Birds at the Bird Feeder on a Cold Day

40 degrees in the middle of the afternoon is a cold day in Cave Creek.  I put out extra seeds for the birds.

In the space of 6 minutes, I could identify Mourning Doves, House Finches, Sparrows, Quail, Woodpeckers, Cactus Wren and Cardinals.  It was fun watching them take turns at the bird feeder.

Tonight, we’re expecting another night of temperatures below 30.  Brrrrrr.

  1. Love the Cardinal. We normally only get a few hummingbirds at our feeders. Yesterday we had a dozen swarming for food. Must be storing up energy for the cold nights.
